It's who you know... or who knows of you.

Hollywood's favorite fugitive Roman Polanski is coming home. I am not even sure if the plane has landed back in the States yet and people are asking if this is all worth it. I mean, it was only unlawful sex with a 13-yr old girl. Big deal! If he were Muslim, she'd be one of his older conquests. Or wives.

But the facts are that unlawful sex with a 13 year old girl is only what his actual charge was at the end. He was actually accused of drugging, molesting, raping and sodomizing the girl at the home of Jack Nicholson after telling her mother she was being photographed for French Vogue. Somewhere along the line he was allowed to plead down which is disgusting on its face.

I'm thrilled the mother wasn't so starstruck she refrained from charging the monster with the crime. Because that is what he is: a monster. A child-drugging, child-raping monster.

He could be beloved, living it up on the beautiful sands of Panama City beach, drinking hurricanes and surrounded by bevies of beautiful blondes all vying for a gig in his next film. Instead he'll be beloved and hopefully, rightfully... and finally... imprisoned.

Praise God.

How to Define "Fair" under Obamacare? Jail for all!

What will they think of next?

Who's "they", you ask?

It's not my kids this time, but those delightfully wacky communist socialist and fascist leaders that are both elected and appointed in our nation's capital. They obviously took the showing of 1.2 Million patriotic Americans at the 912 Project in Washington, DC as a sign. It appears they've taken it as a sign to ramp things up and put the screws to us little people. Confirmed today: if Obamacare passes all Americans will have to buy health insurance or go to jail!.

Ensign receives handwritten confirmation

This doesn't happen often enough.

Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.) received a handwritten note Thursday from Joint Committee on Taxation Chief of Staft Tom Barthold confirming the penalty for failing to pay the up to $1,900 fee for not buying health insurance.

Violators could be charged with a misdemeanor and could face up to a year in jail or a $25,000 penalty, Barthold wrote on JCT letterhead. He signed it "Sincerely, Thomas A. Barthold."

The note was a follow-up to Ensign's questioning at the markup.

He's just making life fair. Right?

Right. It's only a matter of time before all those starry-eyed "we'regonnachangetheworld!" types wake up and realize this is just a little different than making sure that poor people get to see a doctor, that rich people see the same doctor the poor people do, that small people have more to eat, or that big people get access to Medifast coupons.

I've asked a couple dozen doctors their thoughts on Obamacare. The cartoon below perfectly captures their thoughts.

CONFIRMED? Obamas' biographer claims Ayers penned Obama's "Dreams"

The connections continue. As many of us knew from following Jack Cashill's extensive and eye-popping work last fall, Bill Ayers is the suspected author of Obama's book "Dreams From My Father".

And now it appears to be confirmed in the new biography about the First Couple.

Making your mark

Out of this phenomenal conservative grassroots movement that's sprung up in our country, I find one of the most fascinating and rewarding aspects to be the satisfaction of making new and lasting friends and contacts. In other words: networking!

I wish I had been able to attend the 912 project in DC. I would definitely have been prepared with some gorgeous custom business cards that would have been not only memorable, but importantly: affordable and sure to open up a whole new network of contacts! I've seen tons of business cards in my day, but having your own logo and name professionally done always makes you feel like you've "made it." Especially when you spend the time to research it, design it and order it.

The reward is in the package that arrives at your doorstep: you open that small unassuming box to find you have been immortalized 100s of times over. Then the real fun begins: sending your new professional custom business card to everyone you know. And everyone you don't!

ACORN: played.

James O'Keefe and Hannah Giles. American Heroes.

This was just the first. We've now seen more videos: in NYC and Washington DC. Right at the White House's doorstep, fittingly.

And rumors abound: Is something more nefarious than propositioned child sex trafficking on the horizon for the President's community organizing pals ACORN? Stay tuned.

and it's GOOD for you!

I'm always looking around for exotic and tasty additions to our family's diet that have an additional benefit in someway for our health. I'm not just talking about calcium in OJ and superfood smoothies full of antioxidants, either. I'm referring to foods that can do things like: reduce cholesterol naturally, improve skin health or even reduce inflammation!

I was fascinated to hear about a recent study done out of Cedar Sinai that seemed to have some promising results related to the wondrous and oh-so exotic mangosteen fruit. And reading about its many benefits: anything that helps people with inflammation issues caused by either obesity, arthritis or even multiple sclerosis is a God-send for those of us who deal with these issues. Just look at it... it's right out of the Garden of Eden! I'm intrigued enough to give the juice a try and if it tastes as spectacular as I'm reading I already know it'll be worth adding to my family's menu.

Twitter is going wild with the #912dc estimates of 1-2 million on the streets and in the Mall of the capital. I couldn't make it with all the little ones, but politikoz headed down and took some video for me and sent it back.

Enjoy:

a Life for Life?

God Bless him for his work for Life. Godspeed Mr. Pouillon.

From Gateway Pundit:
Pro-Life Protester Shot & Killed in Michigan in Apparent Hate Crime-- Waiting For Obama Announcement:

Local officials and state police are confirming that a pro-life advocate was shot and killed outside a high school in this Michigan town. The person, who is described as well-known but whose identity has not been released, was shot multiple times while protesting abortion outside Owosso High School...

...A man living next to the school heard the shots.
The Argus Press reported:

“I just saw several people that I knew who were medical officials working on (Pouillon) and giving him CPR,” Shepherd said. “It's a pretty sad day when somebody shoots someone over a political agenda that he had. He was always known as the ‘sign man.' ... This country is based on freedom of speech.”

The most for your money... and your honey

A friend of mine is getting married next month and she and her fiance, like so many people today, are covering most of the wedding costs on their own. She has been having a heck of a time finding invites to send out that are not only beautiful but look as elegant as their high-priced counterparts. Because of our baby's own arrival this past spring and our teen's graduation from high school, I had occasion to research a good number of sites that offered all varieties of announcements.

I knew just where to send her for cheap wedding invitations that would definitely suit her and her fiance's tastes: both elegant and modern all at once. They have some of the most eye-catching and customizable designs for their invitations that are so affordable, she'll be able to spend more on the flowers for the ceremony. And the quality is exceptional: none of that "did they print this at home?" look that can often be the result of budget shopping. I can't wait to hear what she thinks. I've got my fingers crossed she'll be so appreciative she saves me a little piece of wedding cake.

Never Forget. Ever.

I remember the day clearly though we lived it from across the country, on the road, not home. Waking up to the Shopping Channel on blackout with Sympathies expressed for the victims. What victims? Muddling through a mental haze trying to understand what I was seeing on the news and reading on the ticker. Hijackings? Plural? Look at that fire... A plane crashed into the World Trade Center? Oh dear Lord... Were those... people jumping? How many have died? Painful memories still and I was 3000 miles away, not home.

Did everyone in this country live it like that who was not directly affected? And the afterward: the rescues and recoveries and endless searching... memorials, tributes. I think of all the 'viral' 9/11 tributes and memorial videos I remember this one most of all. Haunting.

We watched "United 93" this week. Until this year I had been unable to view the film, knowing it was so much more than that. And it was as painful as I expected: tearing at the soul and leaving the heart heavy at the evil that touched our country and took our brothers and sisters.

God Bless the victims. God Bless the families who had to let go of their loves ones too soon. God Bless America.

Sites for sore eyes

I've noticed while perusing the rounds at Entrecard that a number of new political sites and mom sites have popped up. I love it! I'm always interested in finding new perspectives on the very topics that interest me the most. A couple friends have asked me for some advice on creating their own blogs and websites, which was quite flattering I must say. While researching their options I ran across an awesome resource for web hosting.

It's not easy to decide on a good source for hosting your own website, I know, it took me awhile. But to find a clearinghouse, so to speak, that compares multiple sites all at once is an incredibly valuable resource, especially when you want to spend the majority of your time on your site's design and content... not just its virtual home! I have another site that will be relocated soon and because of the reviews at WHG I was able to narrow down the best place for my site by price and need, hands down! And to top it off their blog contains a ton of info that should be looked into by every website owner. One entry about security tips for protecting your site really caught my eye, because we're always hearing about the dangers of online hackers and stalkers.

When I do need a new host at renewal time, I'll be sure to comparison shop my main site as well. Because in this economy, every penny counts and who doesn't want to get the most for their money?

The look the Prez, VP and Speaker gave Joe Wilson

And the Left is correct. As usual.

This never, ever, ever happened to a Sitting American President EVER!

What's in a name?

When I heard that Joe Wilson interrupted the President's speech (a transparent attempt to convince Congress that Universal State-Run & Controlled HealthCare is The Way and none of those pesky educated & Tea-Partying Americans matter) with the vicious attack of "Lie! You lie," I was wondering which Czar the former ambassador had been appointed for him to garner an invite. Then I wondered if he was hallucinating that the Ghost of Robert Novak was haunting his conscience and he was looking in a mirror somewhere.

My confusion was short-lived. It was another Joe Wilson who made the outburst: Rep. Joe Wilson-SC (R). And this Joe Wilson is now being compared to that state's disgraced and still-seated Governor Sanford in a state run-off of who is the "biggest party embarrassment." He's already apologized for his outburst, though I confess it's been a secret wish of mine more than a few times that our Congressional sessions be a bit more like those of our allies Down Under and across the pond.

Quoth President Bush: "I love free speech."

Van Jonesing for a Job

Excoriated and unrepentant Van Jones estimating how far the Obama administration was willing to go to support their Green Jobs Czar.

Thanks to the combined efforts of Glenn Beck and Gateway Pundit, communist-truther-wannabe-musician Van Jones resigned during the especially popular to the politically shamed news hour of midnight. I don't subscribe to hard versions of newspapers but I suspect the majority of the Sunday editions didn't have the story on their front pages.

The militant activist didn't resign quietly either, and offered up more soundbites to lend further credibility to those who opposed his being a part of the United States Government in any capacity:

On the eve of historic fights for health care and clean energy, opponents of reform have mounted a vicious smear campaign against me. They are using lies and distortions to distract and divide.

I have been inundated with calls - from across the political spectrum - urging me to "stay and fight."

But I came here to fight for others, not for myself. I cannot in good conscience ask my colleagues to expend precious time and energy defending or explaining my past. We need all hands on deck, fighting for the future.

Ahhh yes... the ubiquitous "vicious smear campaign... of lies and distortions". Is that what they're calling it over there on the left when people are confronted by their own words and deeds and asked to explain them?

Poor Van. Life's hard when noone can see your green vision except... those who aren't willing to protect you. And he was so enjoying the Ramadan celebrations at the Red... er.. White House. I guess he'll have to find another event to wear that fancy men's tuxedo to because he's suddenly become persona non grata in Obama's circles: relegated to the outer limits with the metaphorically excommunicated Reverend Wright.

Pay no attention to the man behind the teleprompter

Biden fills vacationing Obama's void

While the press is banned from bothering the "most important person in the world" while he and his family vacation "for the 2nd time in 2 weeks", Veep Biden is out in front of the cameras and people letting them know that it is HE who is responsible for the successes of this administration.

If you're like me, someone who has been paying attention, you're wondering: what successes, Joe? Reading the latest from the jobs numbers, I can't imagine what he's reading. It's just a parallel universe right? It must be because in the one where he's actually the head honcho, he oversees the most profitable rv towing outfit in the southwest with the other wannabe Harry Reid.

the Skinny on Salads

I've been on a real salad kick lately: eating it at least once sometimes twice a day. My family however... they can give or take salad. The same old green salad with dressing can get a little tedious after awhile and even adding some bacon bits or mixing up the chopped veggies doesn't exactly tantalize the tastebuds if you have it too often.

So I was thrilled when I stumbled upon an amazing summertime food article in the NY Times: 101 Simple Salads for the Season . Okay... the season is almost over but there are so many great salad ideas in here and with 101 varieties I'll definitely be able to both continue to enjoy eating salads and entice the family to eat better with me as well!

I already have kicked myself for not thinking up some of these simplistic and delicious ideas myself. I think the best part is that if I can continue eating this healthy without getting bored, I'll be more likely to stick to my goal to keep shedding the baby fat.
I already know that even the best diet pills aren't going to miraculously transform my body into the ideal below... but maybe they plus some healthy good eats will get me on my way.

Desperately seeking snoozin'

We're nowhere near as close to the ocean as we used to be. It's definitely accessible, but such a hassle with all the kid gear and also because it usually requires an overnight stay we didn't make it out this year. I'm certain we could all use it and am hoping we make it out around Labor Day, just to dig our toes in the sand and smell the salt. The Atlantic has a different sort of gentler feel than the Pacific, but it serves a purpose in letting us leave it all behind and enjoy some family time together.

One thing I need is just a little piece of mind and not the kind you get from having your home secured by wireless alarms or a trusty Smith and Wesson. Just the piece of mind you get from being able to relax in the sunshine, maybe even have a little catnap... then waking up and looking over your family to watch them play, listen to them laugh, and know that you are truly blessed to be alive.

the Watcher

Vice President Cheney on Fox News Sunday:

CHENEY: Chris, my sort of overwhelming view is that the enhanced interrogation techniques were absolutely essential in saving thousands of American lives and preventing further attacks against the United States, and giving us the intelligence we needed to go find Al Qaeda, to find their camps, to find out how they were being financed. Those interrogations were involved in the arrest of nearly all the Al Qaeda members that we were able to bring to justice. I think they were directly responsible for the fact that for eight years, we had no further mass casualty attacks against the United States.

It was good policy. It was properly carried out. It worked very, very well.

I don't know if the left expected this courageous man to just hightail it back to Wyoming with only his led taillights visible on the horizon, but it's obvious that VP Cheney isn't going to let them continue to make every effort to rewrite history. It's refreshing to hear his spirited defense of the policies and actions that did indeed protect us from multiple terror attacks.

I wish more of this had been done all along: a vocal and visible defense of every Bush administration policy and action that was attacked by the left for purely political reasons. Hindsight is 20/20 but everyone also knows that if you leave a lie unchallenged for too long, to too many sheep it becomes accepted fact.
