We're surrounded by green stuff: trees, vines, plants, weeds, veggies, flowers, bushes and grass. My daughter and I planted 8 sunflowers, and we're now down to 1. We caught the deer last week chomping on them. Grandma the master gardener says they might grow back depending on the condition but it looks like the deer walked up to the plants (some were 4 ft tall) and just bit the top off. The last one is over 5 feet and I'm considering transplanting it into a pot and moving it to the deck. I'm just afraid to shock the roots.
Who knew deer would skip past acres of all this greenery and go right for the sunflowers? Oh, and for dessert they nibbled off the silky threads from our very first ears of corn. So much for sweet corn.
